Elika Rafie

Hello! My name is Elika Rafie and I am in my first year at SMC as a neuroscience major. As Vice President of Biotech association, I'm interested in pursuing advancements in biotechnology to address eye diseases such as keratoconus by targeting genetic loci associated with corneal hysteresis and corneal resistance factor. Biotechnology offers hope for people with diseases by developing targeted therapies and diagnostic tools, driving my interest in the field. Outside of academics, I love playing soccer, going on road trips with friends, watching films, and skiing. Passionate about both biotech innovation and diverse hobbies, I strive to make meaningful contributions in science while embracing life's adventures.
